Manage inventory transfers
Use Transfers to record the items that you plan to move between warehouses. The transfer records the requested quantities, dates, and progress.
Find a transfer
- Open the project.
- Open Warehouse.
- Select Transfers.
- Use the column filters to find a transfer.
- Select the transfer to open it.
The list shows the source warehouse, destination warehouse, dates, and transfer status.
Each transfer has a number with the prefix TR-.
Create a transfer
- Select New transfer.
- In From warehouse, select the source warehouse.
- In To warehouse, select a different destination warehouse.
- Set Requested ship and Required delivery, if applicable.
- In the first Item line, select an item.
- Do a check of UOM, the unit of measure.
- Enter a positive Quantity.
- Enter Lot number, Expiry, and line Notes, if applicable.
- To add another item, select Add item.
- Enter transfer Notes, if applicable.
- Select Save as draft.
The transfer appears in the list with status DRAFT. The draft remains editable.
Open a transfer
Only drafts permit changes to warehouses, dates, and lines. Do a check of the transfer before you open it.
- Open the draft.
- Select Save and open.
- Make sure that the transfer status is OPEN.
In the transfer list, Open transfer also changes a saved draft to OPEN.
Monitor transfer progress
- When transport starts, select Mark in transit on the open transfer.
- Make sure that the transfer status is IN TRANSIT.
- When the transfer finishes, select Mark completed.
- Make sure that the transfer status is COMPLETED.
These actions change the transfer status. They do not dispatch stock, receive stock, or change warehouse stock balances. Shipment status is a separate value from Transfer status.
Cancel a transfer
You can cancel a transfer in DRAFT or OPEN. Cancellation cannot be reversed.
- Open the transfer.
- Select Cancel inventory transfer.
- Accept the cancellation in the confirmation dialog.
- Make sure that the transfer status is CANCELLED.
In the list, use More inventory transfer actions to find the cancellation action.
If you cannot save
The source and destination warehouses must be different. Select at least one item with a stock unit and a quantity greater than zero. Do a check of the error message before you retry.
