Sourcing

Use Purchasing > Sourcing to connect an item with a vendor. Each sourcing record holds the vendor's ordering details for that item.

Add an item source

  1. Open Purchasing > Sourcing.
  2. Select Add sourcing.
  3. Select Item.
  4. Select Vendor.
  5. Enter Vendor item code, if applicable.
  6. Select Origin.
  7. Enter HTS code, if applicable.
  8. Select UOM, if necessary.
  9. Enter Min. order, Order multiple, and Lead time, if applicable.
  10. Set Dropship, Primary, and Active, as applicable.
  11. Select Save sourcing record.

The record appears in the sourcing list. If the origin is unknown, use ZZ · Unknown / not specified.

FieldUse
Vendor item codeThe vendor's identifier for the item.
OriginThe country of origin for this source.
HTS codeThe tariff classification recorded for this source.
UOMThe unit of measure for the source.
Min. orderThe minimum order quantity recorded for this source.
Order multipleThe quantity increment recorded for ordering.
Lead timeThe recorded lead time, in days.
DropshipWhether this source supports dropship purchases.
PrimaryWhether this source is marked as the primary source.
ActiveWhether the sourcing record is active.

Set the unit cost

  1. Find the saved sourcing record.
  2. Enter a nonnegative value in Unit cost.
  3. Leave the field to save the cost.
  4. Make sure that the Unit cost updated message appears.

The currency appears beside the cost. Save a new sourcing record before you enter its unit cost. This action updates the sourcing cost. It does not change the cost on an existing purchase order.

Change a source

Use Search item SKU to find an item's sourcing records. Edit the applicable cells in the list. Text and number fields save when you leave the field. Selectors and checkboxes save their changes when you select a value.

Wait for each save to finish before you make another change to the same record. If an error appears, do a check of the saved value before you continue.

Stop using a source

Clear Active to make a sourcing record inactive. Select Active again when the source can be used.

This change affects the sourcing record. It does not cancel purchase orders that already use the vendor.
